Destination Overview

Discover Lake Bogoria

Lake Bogoria is a narrow, alkaline Rift Valley lake surrounded by rugged escarpments and geothermal features. It is internationally known for large concentrations of lesser flamingos when feeding conditions are favourable, while hot springs and geysers add a dramatic geological element. The reserve is often combined with Lake Nakuru or longer Rift Valley safari circuits.

When to Travel

Best Time to Visit Lake Bogoria

Visit for scenery and geothermal features at any time of year. For flamingos, recent local conditions matter more than a fixed calendar because the birds move according to food availability and water chemistry.

High / Dry Season

Classic Game-Viewing Months

Dry periods from roughly June to October and January to March are often comfortable for access, though flamingo numbers depend primarily on lake ecology rather than tourist season.

Low / Green Season

Quieter, Greener & Atmospheric

April to May and parts of November are wetter and quieter. Bird concentrations can change significantly as feeding conditions shift between Rift Valley lakes.

Seasonal weather patterns vary from year to year. Our team will advise on current conditions when planning your safari.
