Classic Game-Viewing Months

Volcanic landscapes, natural springs and diverse wildlife habitats.
Tsavo West has a more varied and dramatic landscape than its eastern neighbour, combining volcanic lava flows, wooded hills, open plains, springs and rocky ridges. The park is especially well known for Mzima Springs, the Shetani Lava Flow and excellent viewpoints. Dense vegetation can make wildlife viewing more rewarding and suspenseful, while the diversity of habitats supports elephant, buffalo, leopard, antelope and abundant birdlife.

Wildlife sightings are always natural and never guaranteed, but these species are strongly associated with Tsavo West and its surrounding ecosystem.
The dry seasons are most reliable for general game viewing. Photographers and birders may prefer the wetter green months for richer vegetation, dramatic light and fewer safari vehicles.
