Vast red-earth wilderness, legendary elephants and classic untamed Kenya.
Tsavo East is one of Kenya’s largest protected wilderness areas and is celebrated for its broad horizons, red soil, seasonal rivers and famously dust-red elephants. Its immense scale gives the park a wild, remote character, while important water sources such as the Galana River attract a wide variety of animals. Tsavo East is particularly convenient for safari travellers beginning or ending a beach holiday on the Kenyan coast.

Wildlife sightings are always natural and never guaranteed, but these species are strongly associated with Tsavo East and its surrounding ecosystem.
For classic dry-season game viewing, travel between June and October or January and March. Green-season travel rewards photographers with dramatic skies, greener vegetation and fewer vehicles.
