Destination Overview

Discover Tsavo East

Tsavo East is one of Kenya’s largest protected wilderness areas and is celebrated for its broad horizons, red soil, seasonal rivers and famously dust-red elephants. Its immense scale gives the park a wild, remote character, while important water sources such as the Galana River attract a wide variety of animals. Tsavo East is particularly convenient for safari travellers beginning or ending a beach holiday on the Kenyan coast.

Every Jossy Travel safari can be privately tailored around your dates, preferred accommodation style and special interests.

When to Travel

Best Time to Visit Tsavo East

For classic dry-season game viewing, travel between June and October or January and March. Green-season travel rewards photographers with dramatic skies, greener vegetation and fewer vehicles.

High / Dry Season

Classic Game-Viewing Months

July to October and January to March are generally dry, making wildlife easier to spot around water sources and along the Galana River. These months are popular for coast-to-safari itineraries.

Low / Green Season

Quieter, Greener & Atmospheric

April to May usually brings the longest rains and quieter visitor numbers. November can bring shorter rains. The park becomes greener and birdlife increases, but some remote tracks may be slower after heavy rainfall.

Seasonal weather patterns vary from year to year. Our team will advise on current conditions when planning your safari.
